Principal's Message

Dear Turtleback Staff and Families,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Turtleback Elementary School!

I am honored to be joining the Turtleback team and am excited to be working alongside each of you. I have a long history in education, as an elementary teacher for 17 years, resource teacher, assistant principal, and most recently as the principal of Garden Road Elementary School in Poway.

I am a firm believer that all students should have access to a kind and caring educational institution where they feel safe and empowered to achieve their academic and personal goals.  As your principal, my focus will be to build quality, lasting, and trusting relationships with all stakeholders.  I will also focus on inspiring staff to strive for continual growth, ensure that all students have a safe learning environment conducive to personal development and educational mastery, communicate regularly with all staff members, and most importantly, carry out the vision all stakeholders have for Turtleback Elementary School.   My goal is for students to continue to leave Turtleback with amazing memories, real world skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

I look forward to our partnership and meeting all of you! I will work closely with Mr. Carlin and Team Turtleback to ensure a smooth transition ahead of the 2024-25 school year.

Warmly,

Lisa Maguire

Parking Lot Drop Off & Pick Up

When dropping off and picking up students in the parking circle please drive all the way around the outer edge of the circle then pull all the way forward to drop off/pick up your child at the curb. Do not let your child out of the car until you are stopped at the edge of the curb. Never leave your car unattended in the loading zone.

Birthday Celebrations

We ask that if you choose to celebrate your child’s  birthday at school, please do so in a healthy way. Please do not bring food to school, but you can:
  • Have your child bring their favorite book to share and the  teacher or child will read it to the class.
  • Donate a book, ball,  jump rope (new or used) to the classroom for recess.
  • Choose a favorite song or musical piece to sing or play for the class.
  • Bring a colorful pencil, sticker, eraser, or simple goodie bags for the entire  class with safe items (no  balloons, or food items, etc.).
  • Only bring party invitations if every student in the class is invited.
