PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Hello Terrapin Families,

What a terrific last week of school we had!  Turtleback is thriving and I want to thank you all again for giving us this opportunity to service and learn alongside your children.

Thank you for allowing me to support Turtleback as Principal for the previous 4.5 years.  It has been an honor and privilege and I will miss the Turtleback students, staff and community greatly.

As the year comes to a close we are actively preparing for the 2024-25 school year!  Turtleback looks forward to your continued involvement in supporting the leaders of tomorrow.  Make sure to check out our Foundation newsletter Turtlebacker Express Newsletter.

As we head into summer remember that growth and learning never stops! Our children are always watching and listening… Please continue to consider these ways to help your child do well in school and thrive in life.

  • Show you care.  Your child needs hugs and words of support.  Ask your child, "What did you learn today?"  “What do you want to learn about today?”
  • Read, read, read.  Read with your child or have her or him read every day.  Make it fun - talk about what you've read.
  • Promote healthy habits.  Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, exercise, and starts each day with a healthy breakfast.
  • Be a role model.  Your child learns from you.  Be positive about education and show you enjoy learning.
  • Encourage independence.  Allow your child to make mistakes and learn to accept their consequences.  Give your child responsibilities, such as household chores.
  • Create a study routine.  Set a time and quiet place for your child to work every day.  Go over the plan together.
  • Get involved.  Meet with your child's camp counselor, attend community events and find ways to help out around San Diego.
  • Build success.  Encourage positive self-talk.  Help raise your child's self-esteem by setting reachable goals and praising your child's efforts.

Together, we can nurture a more positive tomorrow.  Enjoy the days, get some rest, and hug the ones you love!

The Luckiest Principal in the World,

Adam Carlin

TEN WISE CHOICES PBIS - Helping Humans Make Wiser Choices

Number Eight: Choose a gratitude attitude.

I choose to be grateful for my blessings:  food, shelter, clothing, my health, education, country, family, and friends.  I am grateful to be alive.
